Massoud Amir Behrani, an Iranian immigrant, has spent most of his savings trying to enhance his daughter's chances of a good marriage. Once she is married, he spends the remaining funds on a house at an auction, unwittingly putting himself and his family in the middle of a legal tussle with the house's former owner. What begins as a legal struggle turns into a personal confrontation, with tragic results.

A good movie. Not for the fragile minds! I have been touched by day. My girlfriend still talks about it. My friend has House of Sand and Fog as his favorite movie! I recommend it highly. The film takes you on a trip to see a situation from 2 different perspectives! In this film are full of disdain, anger, love, care, misunderstandings, sadness, hatred, pain, ... I did not expect this in a movie like this ... to go and see! It pains me to see so many disagreements between two ordinary people - is unfair, but very relevant ... reminds me of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in some way - not exactly, but similar in the way you do not agree, but using the anger to resolve situations - I do not know much about the case, though. Excellent actors in this film. The casting agent has done a great job!

Wow, what great movie. It's really give him a hard kick in the pants to quit smoking whining, talking things, and look at things from the perspective of everyone in the life of ups and downs. The good thing about the movie is at different points that hate each other ... and then, like the characters. But in the end, as you have read all the comments here, this is a tragic collision course of events which makes it sad for all parties involved. At the end of the day, if you're angry with someone or some situation, this movie grabs you by the throat, not letting go until the end quote, and ask if everything is really worth it. This film really is a must see. No excuses. To go and see! 10/10

Of all the movies I've seen with Ben Kingsley this is one of my favorites of most of his films. The beginning starts very slowly and not waste time confusing the audience. Though the film moves at a pace that is still unknown mentally stimulating and has a wonder what will happen next. Throughout the film, the audience is drawn to sympathize by Kathy played by Jennifer Connelly, who has lost his home because they do not pay taxes on their business. When your house is seized by the county and put up for auction Kathy finds an ally in a sheriff deputy called Les played by Ron Eldard. Soon the two embark on a legal battle to obtain the house, but soon his efforts prove fruitless as the house is sold to Col. Behrani and his family. Behrani The family hopes to fix the house and are only sold at a price four times more than they bought it for Behrani. The film grows rapidly in an intense, emotional nail biter with an unexpected end that will leave the viewer in a state of shock. It is definitely one of Kinglsey more emotional images that leave the audience with a better perspective of what happens when two very different cultures collide and find they have more in common than they are different.
