Fact-based story about Ira Einhorn (Kevin Anderson), a 70's peace-nik who is generally credited as one of the founders of Earth Day. In the late 60's and early 70's, Ira lived with Holly Maddux (Naomi Watts). But when she tries to leave him in 1977, she suddenly disappears. Later her body is discovered in a trunk in Einhorn's apartment. Let out on bail, Einhorn flees from the country and manages to elude authorities for years. Meanwhile he is convicted in absentia and sentenced to prison. Holly's father (Tom Skerritt) is determined to see his daughter's murderer brought to justice and has him tracked and is eventually caught in France in 1997. Martin Donovan appears as the assistant D.A. who put the case together. Today, Einhorn is now appealing his conviction.

I have read many books and seen many documentaries (including an episode of "America's Most Wanted") in connection with this case and still leave with the feeling that there's more of the story was said. Ira Einhorn was a hippie guru in Philadelphia during the'60s and'70s, and was heavily involved in thought control, paranormal, and information programs. He always claimed that the CIA and other government agencies were monitoring their activities, and some of this is that in this film. However, for the most part this is the story of the woman killed the family's point of view. I also find it very interesting that the lawyer who has Einhorn on bail (for the murder of Pete's sake!) Was none other than Arlen Spector, author of the JFK "magic bullet theory" and involved many in Congress intelligence oversight activities. Watching this film, or following the case, one can see some of the Danny Casolare this incident. This film is quite good, and the performance is excellent, but watch and read between the lines!

I thought the movie good, which allows one to imagine the anguish of the family of a murder victim goes through.What happened after the movie left: Ira was returned to stand trial because of a special law passed in Pennsylvania that allows Persons convicted in absentia at the request of another trial. Anger in the second trial with him for the presentation of his history of the CIA trying to embarrass him, so the jury took all of two hours to return a verdict of guilty. Ira is serving a life sentence to Hautzville PA in prison. This is an interesting study of how to fools Hypnotize people can believe in them. Think, in addition to the Unicorn, Charles Manson, Adolf Hitler, Jim Jones, and sadly, many others with this capability.

I read an earlier comment on this movie, and it is a long movie, if seen at once, as in life Movies. It was originally a part two mini-series. I think people need to remember the horrific killing Holly Maddux endured. Ira Einhorn is in the spotlight in which she loves to be, whether it is good or bad. Of course he is concerned, not his right. It is important to remember Holly Maddux as a young woman who was trying to make a life for herself, never to marry or have children, taken from this world in the hands of another, and in such a brutal murder. My family and I paid our respect to her grave yesterday, along with the graves of his father and mother. We have never met the family, but such strong feelings that this film gave us, we feel compelled to find his marker and leave flowers. I hope this movie gets the way it came to me and my family, and that you will remember HOLLY MADDUX the victim, the person, and remember that the family would not until justice is done. The hippie guru has already been sent home to deal with crime and punishment in France. He, however, come to have a retrial ... Oops ... That figure should also interesting to see. How can you plead the innocence of something that was 23 years. He's toast.

This excellent drama real life has just been broadcast on British television - more than two weeks. This is a fascinating story that sent a chill up the spine. However, I would be intrigued to know what happened to Ira Einhorn in the final. The film was made in 1999 and a note at the end of the film saying it was an appeal against his extradition from France, once having been a success. What has happened in the four years since? He was finally brought to justice? If there is any Philadelphians out there that could tell me, I'd love to know. That said, full marks to an excellent cast!
