As a young woman who is highly motivated by politics, it was refreshing to see a movie. I was very skeptical of that first, but when I saw that I had the concept of the British propaganda was dragged slowly. Even the camera angles gave him a hard edge and very realistic. The piercing screams of the demonstrators was an extremely effective way that the viewer feels part of the fear that people experienced that day. I was not born when it happened, but I regard myself as a Republican and go to the march in Derry each year. I would recommend this Bloody Sunday Drama movie to anyone, not only for the people of this island, but everyone who likes a hard hitting realistic film! |
A very well done film. I found that this is a very factual and very honest account of a terrible time in Irish / British history. Compared with other materials and books that I read about the account in recent years, I have to say it was probably about as accurate as could be. Of course we do not hear the exact language that was used, particularly by the British commanders during that time, but I think the Bloody Sunday movie gives a very likely occurrence of what happened behind closed doors. The soldiers who were allowed to speak, many years after the fact, have, to shed light on what happened during that time. |
If you are a fan of the documentary genre, this DivX film Bloody Sunday is up your alley. Everything from the visual style with the sound comes across as if there was actually a documentary crew after the events of that day. The actor's performance is so fluid and responsive to the atmosphere of the movies that you completely forget all together that you are watching a Bloody Sunday film narrative. I understand that this means that this is really normal unlike his film, including a historically based on that one. People have complained about the camera, tremors and even unability to understand what is being said. However, when watching this you have to understand that in order to make a Bloody Sunday Drama movie documentary style, you have to shoot ... well .... documentary style. Which means no lighting up ... they did not have ... or even the whole world and everything we have said is perfectly recorded. However .. certain dialogue of different main characters ... even to be outside in the distance could be heard clearly for the sake of communicating what was happening with the characters .. but apart from that ... is quite stark. However, this is a Bloody Sunday Drama movie that haunt him for quite some time. |
Although initially difficult to enter, Bloody Sunday proved that it is worth persevering as the second half puts the viewer in the carnage. The performance, especially James Nesbit is excellent, the recreation of the mood is excellent, although it is evident with the constant close ups that had very little budget to recreate the landscape. The geography was never explained, and thus leave a viewer with no prior knowledge of the area disoriented. The Bloody Sunday movie suffered from not being able to set the scene, a lot had happened in the week prior to the Civil Rights March that put both the participants and security forces on the edge and the most significant advance. The question of why the Paras were sent to Derry were never fully explored. In general, was impeccable recreation of the events from the point of view adopted by makers of the film: Bloody Sunday on this particular incident. It should be noted that this is based on the examination of the Irish government of the Widgery report into Bloody Sunday. (Note: the Widgery report is considered by most nationalists to be a white wash) |
This is a very visceral film, and the absorption of substance. The proceedings ar universally excellent, right through the Board, and the atmosphere of the day, both among the protesters and the defense forces is excellent in the movies created tough, but compelling documentary style. If the Bloody Sunday film has a fault, is the risk that it will replace the current events of the day in the imagination of the public, but bearing in mind that is so heavily based on documented accounts, I guess you can not blame for it . It was fired from very close quarters and, often, there are dozens of people on the screen, so it makes for heady. Excellent stuff. |
Terrific movie. It not only describes the terrible events of 1/30/1972 in Derry, but also gives a glimpse (and only that) of people's lives at that time and place. Knowing what happened on Bloody Sunday does not hold a strip of being in the world of "Bloody Sunday". Much of the dialogue, at least in this listener, can not be understood. That in this case, no problems at all - the impact of the Bloody Sunday movie was not diverted to everyone for not understanding the specific, common words of the working class characters. For those interested inflections and cadences of cities in Northern Ireland are difficult to understand for Americans. Added to this is the very fast and sometimes mumbling delivery of the actors. But anyone who thinks they need to know exactly what lines of a certain actor is to understand the story is wrong. The scenes of combat (or slaughter, if you will) are too powerful. The confusion that prevails among the three main groups - the British army, demonstrators on Civil Rights and the disaffected, lumpenized youth is very well represented. |
