| All of you trashing the film: Carlito's Way: Rise to Power ... and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I have to ask yourself if you liked the Carlito's Way: Rise to Power Crime film or not. Do any of you read books Road Carlito was based on the films. There is so much that could have been put on film, whether they could have done a mini-series. If I'm not mistaken, this new DVD movie Carlito's Way: Rise to Power focuses on a chapter of history. When I say a chapter, not a chapter of a book. Its an important part of the life of the character. This is the part of Carlito the first major battle in his rise to power. I think the Carlito's Way: Rise to Power Crime movie was very good. It could have been much better, but it was not too bad for what it was. Do you expect young people to be both Carlito Carlito as the oldest of the first film. People change with time, experience and age. Just look at the saga of The Godfather and all the changes that happened by Michael Corleone. I think there needs to be more movies to fill in the blanks between the prequel and the original, however. |
| I must say this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. They had a very good argument to go, but that is so badly wrong. First, the casting is all wrong, where did that go Peebles (actor crap BTW) and come from Puff Daddy? Carlito seems to have come from the hood, and used to hang around with some real idiots. This DivX Movie Carlito's Way: Rise to Power does not "Carlitos Way" any justice. Im very happy that the sequel to "Carlito's Way" was released first, if I had seen this garbage in the first place, I would have never given an opportunity to Pacino. And anyway, Pacino is supposed to have read this story, I thought that the trash and not the sequel instead. Carlito's Way: rise to power - 1 in 10. Carlito's Way - 9 out of 10. |
| I saw this prequel a couple of days after seeing the 1983 version with Al Pacino. While this was not as good as the first, I really think that Jay Hernandez has done a great job of portraying Carlito in the early years. He was able to emerge as a "good guy", although it was a gangster. His loyalty to his friends was his eventual fall, but this is what made him a pleasant stay. The plot twists and good "happy ending" has been achieved. I do not want even though they have continued with the same girlfriend in the original, Gail. Perhaps there was a reason and I just lost it. In general, I liked this DivX Movie Carlito's Way: Rise to Power and recommend it to those who have tired of seeing repeats of Goodfellas and The Godfather. |
| If you hit your head with a shovel, the screenplay with his feet, you can get closer to the intelligence of this movie. Nothing in this DVD movie Carlito's Way: Rise to Power has not been done a thousand times in other gangster films and done much better. Those who think that "Scarface" is a kind of hero to be examined or even seen "Goodfellas," "Threat II Society" and "Dead Presidents" and thought MMM "That is the life for me!" As this film. I thought the Carlito's Way: Rise to Power Crime film a chance, because the premise was perfect for a prequel. Should have known better after seeing Mario Van Peebles and Sean Combs have participated. Nobody above a 4th level of education, see the original Pacino, a real actor, and be satisfied. |
| Misleading ... I saw a commercial for Carlitos Way: rise to power that says "From the producer of Scarface and Carlito's Way" LETS GET IT STRAIGHT ... Michael Bergman did not produce Scarface, in fact was "editing wizard" for Scarface. Not for the talent of Bergman ... but in my opinion should of had a little more class. I think I can speak for the masses when I say ... We do not like to be lied shamelessly. Inasmuch as the DVD film Carlito's Way: Rise to Power goes, I was poor at best. I think Puff Daddy did a good job. Although Luis Guzmán should be ashamed to work in this film. Overall this DivX Movie Carlito's Way: Rise to Power did a good job filling in the blanks for Carlito's Way. Clearly this project is an attempt to make money fast and not a good movie. |
