| My husband and I saw this Talk to Me History film was released the day in Los Angeles. The Talk to Me History trailer and the buzz, plus music, attracted our attention. We love all the music of the'60s and'70s, and especially anything by James Brown. We have always lived on the West Coast, so that none of us had heard of Petey Greene (Don Cheadle) and his manager, Dewey Hughes (Chiwetel Ejiofor). We did a little Internet search, when we get home to see Greene had married, had children and worked all his life as an activist for social reform for the reintegration of ex-convicts in the community and get jobs. Anything that was not important for the film, but it is interesting to learn about the real lives of Greene. Lends further credence to why his story is told. TALK TO ME is a good biopic that I recommend to family and friends. |
| As a resident of Washington, from 1962 to 1975, Washington knew Petey Greene well. Any African American living in DC during the sixties, seventy and eighty must find something to like in this Talk to Me History movie for sure. The DVD film Talk to Me is both informative and entertaining - they are the best kind to me. The main image of the characters are Petey and Dewey Hughes, two brothers totally different. How their relationship grows and evolves is a wonderful thing to experience and is the essence of the Talk to Me movie in my opinion. They hope to have good laughs and an intimate look at a chaotic period of American History. The movie: Talk to Me reminds me of the feeling that he had spent long in the mental file. For those of you old enough to remember the sixties and seventies, where a very special time in this country. Movie gives a good look at the different perspectives of the time. Oh, and Don Cheadle is becoming a class for itself. |
| Excellent Talk to Me movie about Washington DC jockey Petey Greene. I had never heard of it, but Director Kasi Lemmons made a good Talk to Me History film with great characters that I (as a member of the audience) has been interested in knowing about it. Lemmons evokes the music, dress and style of the time very well, and the entire cast was great - not only of Don Cheadle, but around the world, as a woman, I liked the way that his girlfriend is presented as a woman strong man who knew well (their strengths and weaknesses). We strongly recommend not only to listen to a great period of music, but to meet someone that makes a difference (at least in the life of the people of DC). Two thumbs up! : D |
| I was not sure what to think when I started to see talk to me. He was an interesting style, but I was not sure that would amount to nothing. Maybe I am afraid that depends too much on the issue of black rights. Immediate impressions aside, I soon found myself immersed in the movie. I was completely inside at the time of Martin Luther King, Jr. 's assassination. From there until the end, I felt the characters and enjoy the ride. It was revealed a few things about our culture that others are afraid of showing movies, but not in a way that the entire Talk to Me movie depends on it. He's phenomenal, especially Don Cheadle as Petey Greene. It is a realistic, complex, yet modest-radical-radio talk show host. His emotions flow freely in front of the screen at the hearing. Chiwetel Ejiofor also makes a notable appearance as Dewey Hughes, who becomes the manager of Greene. The chemistry between these two great characters (and actors) is wonderful. The music editing is excellent and goes a long way to help put an emotional impact on viewers. There's a lot of equal amounts of comedy and tragedy. Toward the end, a point of reflection is achieved by summarizing the main ideas presented throughout the film. The plot itself has its ups and downs, but ultimately, is satisfactory. Talk to me has all the attributes needed to be a great movie. Its structure is original and successful combinations with comedy, tragedy and drama together. Highly recommended if you have a chance to see him. |
