He is bright, the image is fast, exciting and very funny. However, this Western, one of the best in the sixties, is not just fun stuff. "The Scalphunters" is a very moral film, taking a stand against racism and white men of hubris. We have also built a sophisticated history and the fact that the circumstances of the dominant position can change very quickly. So I guess Sydney Pollack and writer William Norton have read the works of Bertolt Brecht with great precision and have understood the political message of the same. See it and you like it. ******** I gave a total of 10 stars. |
This is a watchable and never dull western insurance. It starts very strong with Davis and Lancaster struggle and the exchange of barbed comments like that make the trip. But soon the DivX film Scalphunters, The fails to focus on that, and starts to go in many directions, the raising of new characters and themes that never seems to be very well treated. In fact, the climax seems kind of deux ex machina, and then not much later, when the credits role has the feeling that there are still some things that have not been adequately treated. But, as I indicated, it passes the time pleasantly enough. Those who have seen screenwriter William Norton "The Hunting Party" will receive slightly more interest, see how Norton took several items from his script of "The Scalphunters" and reused in others that the Scalphunters, The Western movie several years later. |
Burt Lancaster plays a fur trader who lost their goods to a herd of wild Indians. Spend the rest of the film: Scalphunters, The trying to retrieve his precious bag of candy. Ossie Davis is an educated slave who befriends Lancaster and becomes an accomplice in its many plans. I loved his devilish humor and satirical tone (that is superbly written by William Norton). It is ridiculous but it is also a smart social satire that makes some well-noted comment on race (and sex) relationships. I loved the contagious energy of the cast. They seem to have fun with the material. Lancaster has to wink in the eye that I've grown so fond of. Savalas evil is funny as the main bad and Shelley Winters earthiness throws around with great ease. But is that Davis has the best lines in the film. Elmer Bernstein provides the Scalphunters, The film with a high spirit of the music score. It's very entertaining Western. |
Superficially, this is a band of white men who took the scalps of Indian money, but the title is not really convey the spirit of the film. Maybe, "They Fur Trade Castor, right?" would be better. (Remember that I Runaway Train, which, together, while a runaway train, is about much more.) This is one of my favorite movies of the late 60s and had a lot of great films from that time . Lancaster and Davis are great together. His dialogue is witty, surprising and literate. Savalas and the winters are one of the most hilarious screen couples I've ever seen. The Scalphunters, because of its 19th-century setting can not provide a definitive answer to the question of race relations, but it does convey a real sense of the stupidity of intolerance. The beauty of this Scalphunters, The film is that you have a serious topic, in search of a nostalgic point of view, and then shares with us a wink. Very highly recommended. |
The best thing about this film: Scalphunters, The is the humor, and strong dialogue. With this cast almost every scene is nice, but the scenes between Burt Lancaster and Ossi Davies literally crackle. (OIOS Davies practically makes this his own image, no mean feat with a cast of this quality). Save Telly makes a really great baddie, Shelley Winters and is the perfect place against him. The script has an edge as a razor, and despite being very funny, has some serious reflections on everything from greed to race. If you have not seen yet, you're in a deal. From the beginning until the last minute, a good image of cracks. Even if you are not a western fan, I recommend this movie. Is the great characters and dialogue that make it stand out. |
I think we have to watch these films generate a view on what the great Shirley McLain said recently that it should start making films for the over 50 age groups. The Scalphunters, The Western film today certainly seem to be the subject of a "different generation", as often should I change the box to see if there is anything wrong with the stereo as the configuration of all that I can listen to music and is a very dull speech. I think the older films, as in this case, which is irreplaceable and stand in support of the old saying "they do not do them only as" To take nothing away from the fashionable ladies of the screen, you can find another Shelly, warm, funny, voluptuous, with a distinctive class to be maintained until the end. Ossie Davis, irreplaceable food and a person to play his part with the obvious dedication with which he did. (Not surprisingly won over the hearts and minds), I doubt if the black is an actor with such dedication to this role today as OIOS was. Burt and Telly. as usual, delivered parts of the first level in what turned out to be good throughout the entertainment value. Surprisingly my 13-year-old son Saturday through it and enjoy it thoroughly. Tante be a bad achievement of our generation of old timers. |
How has an Scalphunters The good Scalphunters, The movie as large extent is not known over the years, while the whole world knows what is Matrix? With a fine lead cast by the legendary Burt Lancaster, Ossie Davis, Telly Savalis and Shelly Winters and with plenty of memorable scenes and dialogue, this is a great western comedy (Minor spoilers). Joe Bass (Lancaster) is a fur trapper who has spent all winter collection of skins. When a herd of Indians led by two crows take Joe's skins and leave him with Joseph Lee (Davis), an educated slave, Bass pursues the Indians get their fur back. The two had a series of misadventures that also involves a part of Scalphunters led by Jim Howie (Savalis), to take the skins of the Indians and also Joseph Lee. Bass now has to get his two skins and slaves of their backs. The DVD film Scalphunters, The works on many levels beside comedy. Some also might consider that a commentary on racial politics. The end of the movie, when Lancaster and Davis are covered in mud and has some symbolism to distinguish the black and white men, while a different color, are the same people. |
