| I think this is a break for Asian Americans to assume a leadership role at a time. I'm not saying it will happen soon, but the opportunity that's all. About this film, I enjoyed, but I do not see the Shanghai Kiss movie as much drama, but its very interesting. The situation "Ken Leung" played sorta true about Asian Americans today. Most Asian American does not really dig back to its roots in some sense you only speak their own language, but I understand. I believe that this Shanghai Kiss movie gives another perspective on Asian American culture of learning exists. Everything in this film: Shanghai Kiss more than I 9-10 because its something to do about 2-4 times. |
| Came before Spike Lee, Black players were not the best male roles - a) is usually the first to die in any movie, b), which usually plays the role of drug traffickers, gang members, criminals, slaves, convicts, and pimps). c) Its functions are limited to the action or crime, music, sports-related films. Spike Lee changed all that and that is because of Spike got to see black actors as Denzel, Terrence Howard, and Jamie Foxx (to name a few) have powerful Oscar worthy role. To date, operators in Asia continue to suffer in Hollywood. The unique role of Asian actors in Hollywood can get are: a) the poor in Asia and the villain who comes beaten by the white hero ... and the white hero saves the beautiful Asian girl from the clutches of "Manchu-Dr.Fu b) a gangster, Viet Cong soldiers, Shaolin monks, a professor of Martial Arts, Chinese-takeout chef / delivery-man-computer geek pingpong player, etc. .. c) nothing to do with Martial Arts It is time that we have an Asia-Spike Lee! David Ren has the mass of the box and hit a grand slam with it and hope to return for more! This Shanghai Kiss Romance movie has it all ... relevant issues, great movie, great cast and great director! |
| WOW, you gotta see this movie. China has a non-stereotypical male, which is quite rare in Hollywood films. It is a drama that has some moments of comedy. It's about this Chinese American in 28 years (this as I do) living in LA struggling with his career and how the opportunity to leave his usual limit changed his outlook on life and his relationship with his father and others. There mother childhood accident and the subsequent blame game. There is too much positive (opposite the main character) girl. I know, the story is almost exactly like Garden State, but the experiences are completely different. In fact, I love more than Garden State. There are fewer drug and weird stuff, however, has more real-life problems and emotions. I do not mind the former, I like Garden State too, but it just makes you feel much closer to the characters. I love scenes in Shanghai. I really want to go there now. Lol. I wonder if Hayden has the opportunity to visit, while shooting the film. BTW, all the actors were amazing (even potential home buyer couple). The main actors are all kinds of emotions very convincing. I must admit, I saw a copy of the film. But I liked it so much that not only will I buy a DVD legit to me, I will buy a few to give to friends. It is unfortunate that there is not enough promotion of what I am going to help spread the word to myself. |
