| I was not really expecting much when I saw the trailer for this movie. I thought it would be a good movie. And with some fun characters and humor. That's how I like such movies. And this was a very good movie. It is a bit tedious but very funny movie. A great adventure of Yankee Irving, a boy who wants to play baseball. But when a thief steals Babe Ruth's bat, goes on a journey to get the bat back to Babe and the rest is for you to know. And give him a little tediousness of seven but it is still fun and enjoyable for the family. |
| "I've lost interest in talking baseball."? "It is not realistic? If you went to a lively KID'S waiting for the movie "Citezen Kane" You're crazy. I liked this movie, is pretty funny. Not everyone likes every movie, but some of the reasoning here is beyond me. Babe Ruth was cool thing, the wink to the leagues was pure black. The characters are interesting. Vi pay-per-view with about 7 children who stayed up late to see it, everyone had a good time. It seems that some people go to the movies in the crazy world, and the film is that the blame for having a bad time. |
| My six year old niece and I saw the whole world hero today because he was the only boy in the movie playing in our little town that had not yet seen. I am glad that they did see. A great story on the surface of a boy who sets out to help his hero, Babe Ruth, and his father. There was a lot more depth to the film that most critics are giving it credit for. There are lessons about bullying, (Yankee Irving, the main character is beset) trap, (the owner of another team sets out to steal Babe's bat what his team can win the World Series), including racial and social acceptance. (Yankee gets help from the gang of hobos and a team of the League of Black) There are no references to pop culture, despite some historical wrongs, (Bobble-head as Babe Ruth), but come on, the bat and ball to speak of the love of God, so I think the inaccuracies are minor. Although the hero of all had a great message and it was wonderful for families, I would not call it a Disney-film material. It was not enough to fear. (Be honest, that was not terrified by the witch in Snow White, the whale from Pinocchio, or even the death of Bambi's mom?) Go to see and enjoy what it is. Great family fare. |
