Peter (Paul Bettany) is a mid-level tennis game about to retire. Meet Lizzie (Kirsten Dunst), one of the major stars of tennis, when both are at Wimbledon. I only have I seen this, because somehow I get the impression that it was written by Richard Curtis. It was apparently written by someone who is a fan of Richard Curtis, and maybe I read a comment that mentioned the similarity. Wimbledon is an odd duck of a movie, to the extent that it does not seem to understand the romantic comedies. That is really strange because there are many of them, and they are not really so difficult to understand. In a romantic comedy, boy meets girl (homosexual, except in romantic comedies, in which, whether girl or boy meets girl meets boy ... but I digress), something that keeps boys and girls separately, and after overcoming some comic adversity, boys and girls meet. This is not rocket science, so it's kind of unforgivable screw. At Wimbledon, boy meets girl, and nothing keeps them apart. With that pass through the motions of romantic comedy with nothing interesting to everything that happens. Some of the romances is very charming, and Paul Bettany is just tons of disarmament, and there are some attractive, but that's about it. It may be that the film: Wimbledon goes for more than an underdog sports story, which obviously has in its favor, but again, not that interesting. A bit of fun there, a bit of Peter Go! but nothing to write home about.
... is another romantic comedy, almost exactly like him! Having gathered at the blatant similarities between Paul Bettany and Hugh Grant as a foppish, witty British in Wimbledon, which came as no surprise to me to know that Hugh Grant was considered for the lead role of Peter Colt. If you've ever seen a DVD movie Wimbledon starring Hugh Grant as the lead, now you know what Wimbledon is essentially the product and how they acted because Paul Bettany play tennis is just as Peter Hugh Grant as a character - confusing English and extremely clever. Bettany While not quite have the charm to perfection, however, is much more attractive than the king of romantic comedies. It is also strangely compatible with Kirsten Dunst and that makes it a nice romance story. While focusing on the plot of tennis (Wimbledon, actually) is quite rare, this is just a disguise for a regular and well-milked premise. The man is out of touch and luck and meets a wild, free girl to help you wake up your mental state, sedated and make him feel alive again. Inevitably conflicts, because the man and the girl are two players at Wimbledon and so there is more at stake than just a love story, who are both competing to win. In the end, this Wimbledon Sport movie is really very nice, and often at least a bit funny, but believe me when I say nothing is that they have not seen before. Mainly because I enjoy Nikolaj Coaster-Waldau, to be honest.
