| Cute 30's-style story, but the best thing for this movie was the art deco games, the best work of art deco that I've seen from the actual deco films of the 30s. I almost forgot the story, sometimes while looking at the beautiful deco details in almost every scene. What a knockout Amy Adam's apartment has character, and the Savoy Hotel, again wow! Impressive, either. As history has been detailed on many occasions here, no, except for this ..... is a combination of Cinderella, My Fair Lady, and many other rags that show the development of the riches of the star, along with a prince instead, happy ending. The story is MadCap, with Amy Adams' star power moving blinking and smiling along at the same breakneck speed, was from the men in her life. Frances McDormand played an unemployed, Dowdy babysitter turned Adams' "social secretary" by hook and by crook deception, and underestimated its part with great dignity and reserve, even in the face, possibly from having to live on the streets again . | This reminded me of something that Irene Dunne and Norma Shearer would star in Delysia, with Cary Grant playing the love interest, Michael. The cast is excellent. Frances McDormand in the title role was outstanding. Ciaran Hinds (Julius Ceaser of the HBO "Rome") was great. The script was first class. The film is perfect, the capture of pre-World War II in London without any problems. What really made the movie was standout Amy Adams as Delysia. She really shined in his role. She has quickly become one of the main level of female actors in Hollywood. She has a great acting range in both comic and dramatic roles, and she can sing. She has it all. Her love interest in the film, Lee Pace, was also very good. They had the kind of chemistry that worked so well in the 1930s the best screwball comedy with Cary Grant and Irene Dunne, among others. This is a very good film, well directed, written and acted. I would recommend this movie to anyone in the mood for a good romantic comedy. |
