| What does this Chick Flick over the top is Cameron Diaz. It is a great performance by her and she carries the film. I did not expect that. The only other time that his memory is present almost was good in "Being John Malkovich" and, of course, "Something About Mary". She is a good actress but she did not pick up the papers sometimes bad, that is their fault. The film itself is much better than I ever expected. Most movies let chicken with sappiness but "In Her Shoes" rises far above all that. The director Curtis Hanson allowed to breathe every scene and not rush things. The characters have the opportunity to express themselves through dialogue and subtle pleasant conversations. We really get to know these people. Shirley McClain as the grandmother of the two sisters brings warmth and intelligence to every scene that has in. There are some amusing moments but mostly it is a drama. There are some very poignant scenes, especially with Diaz and an old man in a nursing home who befriends her. Not aa few flaws here and there, as there is a plot too many coincidences, and over the top of the image of the mother-in-law, but nothing strong enough to make a difference. Toni Collette and all the other players also do a great job. I'm a little kid and I'm addicted to this movie, I've seen a couple of times. Weird. Congratulations to Cameron Diaz in a great performance. |
| In Philadelphia, the irresponsible and selfish Maggie (Cameron Diaz) is an easy drunk woman having sex with many men. Her sister Rose (Toni Collette) is the opposite, responsible lawyer but needy and have complex, compulsively buying shoes for their frustrations relief. Maggie is evicted from her father at her stepmother, and Rose presents her sister in her apartment. When Maggie has a night with the boyfriend of Rose, Rose sends her sister away. She believes that the letters and postcards from the missing of her grandmother Ella Hirsch (Shirley MacLaine) they thought that he had died live in a retirement complex in Florida hiding in his father's drawer, and without any options, she decides travel to meet her. With her, Maggie changes, becoming another woman and the improvement of relations in her family. "In Her Shoes" is a feel-good comedy with an excellent trio of lead actresses.
