| I've seen all beings and the great Rankin / Bass Christmas shows, and I've got most of them on video, but this first one, "Rudolph", remains the best, and one remains the one that has the most warm memories for me. As to the holiday atmosphere, it can not be beat. The late Johnny Marks' songs are all winners, and "Rudolph" and "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" are now firmly established classics of Christmas. And holding it all together is Burl Ives' warm, friendly song and narration. His sincerity and joviality, of course, that only want to "lift a block of ice and lend an ear." I am now 41 years, I know that virtually the entire dialogue of memory, and yet I still see "Rudolph" practically every Christmas. And what is more, I still love it. Finally, a word of Julie Landry, of Orlando, in its review. I myself was dyslexic as a child. And yes, I picked up because of it. However, in deference to his opinion, I see "Rudolph" as a story of how even a perceived outsider can fit in. As a successful senior librarian of today, I'm living proof that aliens can be successful. But then, Rudolph proved that long before I did. |
| Christmas would not be the same without this wonderful story, 'Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer. " This film, narrated by talking snowman voiced by Burl Ives, is a claymation that tells the story of Rudolph. Is a movie for children, but it is one that adults can enjoy too because it's a nice movie, and offers nastalgic value. It also has some classic Christmas songs, which are combined with a good story and the warmth and a happy ending, and you have the perfect family Christmas movie. This film was one of my favorites as a kid, and I love it even today. Excellent, I wish they did more like this. I can not fault this movie in any way. |
| Oh this is great! I loved as a child, and must admit that you are scared of the abhorrent when shown round of 5 years or less. The parties with Herbie doing the "Oink oink oink" routine and Yukon Cornelious are a scream! (One of my cousins reminded me of Yukon, actually ...) There are some great vignettes here the iceberg to drift away from the aurora borealis, the Beasts' echoing all roaring round, the island of misfit Toys (Charlie in the Box is the best !)...' Bumble Bounce !'... Who can not like this? Plus Burl Ives, the only one. This will remain a proven long after the Beavis of the world are gone. *** ****, Far from a given clock. + |
| This show of Christmas has been my favorite since I was a kid - I was born the year it came out and I've never lost until I was well in my 20 years. Sometimes I had to fight my sisters to the TV the night was, but I always seem to win (the oldest who have rights!) But in recent years, my sister and I have been wondering about the doll on the island of misfit toys is why it exists? Other toys have things like square wheels, Squirt or jelly. We have been watching the show faithfully for about 40 years and although we were not critique or analysis of the sample for the first 20 years (probably), who have been watching more critical in recent years. Not to criticize, but more closely watching the show. |
