| Interesting film. Real has some parts of reflection. The main female lead (Cook) is shown as schizophrenia. Normally, the films shown to those people as evil and the people from fear, which is not accurate and only exacerbates the negative effects of stigma of mental illness - but makes money to make movies. Knowing how much of the mental illness of schizophrenia, I can say that the producers of this movie have done a very good job of showing a real person with schizophrenia. Cook does a great job of showing that person. Yes, the film is somewhat disjointed and somewhat abrupt end. But it's still a movie. |
| Having shared many conversations with Reverge Anselmo, I've found to be the honorable person depicted in this wonderful film based on a time in his life. Both he and his film deserve high praise. With "Stateside" R. Anselmo leads the audience an intimate history with the ring of universal truth. Jonathan Tucker captures what I imagine youth to Anselmo, a young man of honor who grew up to be an honorable adult. I look forward to seeing future films of this talented writer / director, who presented his vision of the interior with each of the projects and will meet with continued success telling stories that resonate with the public. |
| Stateside breaks the mold of teen love stories. While it may not appeal to a mass audience of young teens, this movie appeals to people ranging from young adults to baby boomers and Gen-X-res who lived during this period. The cast is stellar, and the leadership appears solid and the camera work deliberately. The real-life experience of the Navy director Reverge Anselmo brings a sense of realism to the film that is often devoid of images about the military - which tend to be heavy with political rhetoric and are often written by people who suffer War of Berkley CA. This image is reinforced by a spectacular soundtrack that complements the film well. It's always a good sign for a movie when the main players to accept smaller roles. Stateside believed to have a Penny Marshall-credited role as a nurse, and Carrie Fisher as Mrs dubio - a part which is largely concentrated in one scene. Val Kilmer and Joe Mantegna combine for about 15 minutes of screen time. The reviews for this movie were mixed. However, it seems to me impossible to change the channel when it comes on TV, and rapidly escalating my short list of favorite movies. It is obvious that not everyone will like this Stateside. It has continuity, and there is some dialogue and plot details that do not make sense until the second or third time you see it. And I agree that the end is a bit steep. However, if you are looking for a romantic movie or a drama hidden gem, you can do a lot worse with an hour and a half of his life. |
| I saw a screening of this charming film. Explore exciting new territory, while telling a teenager extremely realistic love story. When the clues hidden around and struggle to be together, have fun and romance of Romeo and Juliet. In other ways it reminds me of the Magdalene Sisters in the sense that tells a story that is important for people to see. However, as in the Magdalene Sisters message does not interfere with the high level of entertainment. Mental illness has no more than the movie. It not only provides a single obstacle that fans should get to be together. He is excellent and all the characters are really alive, imperfect, passionate and interesting. However, this is a warm and funny movie. |
| My biggest problem with the film is Val Kilmer Senior reproduction of a marine drill instructor .... as a former Marine enlisted, not buy for a minute. So the question, as this is basically a love story mad ... Why waste so much time in the Marine Corps Boot Camp, probably because there was not much of a love story. Joe Mantanga had lost a role ... Hell, what role. The director must have called in a lot of favors to get so many names to do so little. Oh, the music was great ... I think that the uniforms and interests me. In addition, it could not have a quick run at the end of the film (because it is based on a true story) of what happened to Mori? |
| By far his best round yet! Rachael Leigh Cook is so nice in this paper that hurts. I have recently been collecting his films. Perhaps his first noticed in 'dry', and then had to see her in "Nancy Drew" on the big screen, then picked up "Josie and the Pussycats" in the local library. By then I'm hooked, so any movie that can not rent or loans from the Library'm going to buy at Half.com just to see everything that ever played. Rachael was adorable in "Sally", but when I thought that was the epitome of Understanding Mental Illness - this movie Beyond jumps in the world of a talented singer and actress fall in schizophrenia. The early scenes are a bit confusing, since it was introduced to the characters and establish the situation. But by the time the two young lovers meet, we are ready for the love story of the century. The true love can survive years of separation, and mental illness? Can imperfect human beings love one another as they are? Can people sacrifice their own satisfaction for the good of a love that? If this film won an "R" rating, which is the most sexually explicit language of what the situations or nudity. The blunt is unrealistic to talk about the characters of this age. In general, this is a very moral film about love and redemption. I do not let more in love with Rachael Leigh Cook, and more romantic about love! |
