Just saw this as it premiered in Toronto - awesome cast, hilarious dialogue, and more than skin deep. First time director does a good job - and the opening credits are noteworthy. RECOMMENDED. Pokes fun at the industry snuff (and lobbyists) but also in others, and its hard to disagree with the sharp satire. Rob Lowe small role is priceless, the casting is perfect in all areas. Nick Naylor of the (Eckart) relationship with his son is the center and maintains some genuine qualities through all the laughter. My friend and I evaluated this near the top or near the top of the 7 films that we saw in Toronto last weekend. Not sure what their distribution / Launch date is, however, as there is still some debate about who had bought the rights to it. Eckart in person came through as very real and it is also another great next film - Neverwas.
This was the funniest movie you saw in Sundance. Smart and funny is not easy to find a match these days. Thank you for smoking reflection provides content delivered through a network of great acting performances that make this movie so provokingly thought hilarious. This comedy, unlike many that grace the screen these days, it was clean enough to be his parents, and quite funny that you forget that in the movies with her mom. It's really refreshing how anyone in the movie was filmed smoking a cigarette. Rob Lowe gives the character a wonderful satire of the movie business. I only hope that the level of intelligence of this movie will not win from mainstream appeal.
I saw this at Sundance last night (actually it is a selection of Salt Lake, and therefore the filmmakers did not bother to drive 30 miles to talk to us ... I'm not bitter ...) In the beginning I was a little concerned that this was going to be old hat for anti-smoking film that makes all smokers eeeeevil victims of tobacco companies, but then I saw that is based on a novel by Christopher Buckley and I relaxed a little ! It pokes fun at all sides of the issue, from the snuff, the pressure group's insistence that there had been "no conclusive evidence" that snuff is injurious to the thought of the legislature to put a warning label on cigarettes someone will actually pick up a pack of cigarettes, read the label and decide not to smoke ... as if anyone with half a brain does not know that inhaling smoke into their lungs damage. Aaron Eckhart did a good job in his role, as does Sam Elliott, Rob Lowe, Katie Holmes ... I could go on and on. Eckhart is fascinating to see the character of spin and spin so he brings to people about their way of thinking. He has to be representing one of the most hated industries in the United States, it is still capable of convincing people as to the forehead! I recommend this movie!
this is a good film full of sarcasm, fear truths, and unfortunately, an accurate representation of the times in which we live and what we have come to accept as truth on the basis of advertising, coalitions, and with constant bombardment misleading "information", all in the name of profit. The truth is that there are real Nick Naylors out there, brilliantly portrayed with such an arrogant Bravo (a contradiction and a good year for this movie) by Aaron Eckhart. It could have been launching NSAIDs, the OTC medicines, unnecessary operations, life insurance, pyramid scams ... John Edward agent could be .... hell could have been one of the lawyers for OJ. It is persuasive, charismatic and committed to their actions, even as he was aware of the dubious ethics that is participation in He is unapologetic, but far from stupid. THANK YOU FOR SMOKING is a great movie that makes a statement about individual rights, credulity, and freedom. A brilliant combination. Oh, and Monsanto, you make me sick. Literally. Got a present in his collection is not it?
In a long, long last, a film for me to write a positive comment. And I think that it would not have even gone out of my way to see this film, had it not been for the good fortune to win tickets on the radio. Nick Naylor of the omnipresent smirk is a symbol of this film's ingenuity ironically. Now is not the vile, "George W. Bush smirk." It is a "kid playing a joke smirk." The writing is intelligent and humane. Except in the case of an absurd kidnapping, the story is very human, and they are the characters. He is excellent. I found myself laughing out loud. The theater erupted in applause at the conclusion. The American Film ongoing public needs more films like Thank you for smoking. We need fewer remakes of old classics. We need less copfilms, persecution, Special Effects, heists and super heroes and most well-written and original ideas. My hat is off to Jason Reitmann.

Download Thank You for Smoking Movie HereTobacco industry lobbyist Nick Naylor has a seemingly impossible task: promoting cigarette smoking in a time when the health hazards of the activity have become too plain to ignore. Nick, however, revels in his job, using argument and twisted logic to place, as often as not, his clients in the positions of either altruistic do-gooders or victims. Nick's son Joey needs to understand and respect his dad's philosophy, and Nick works hard to respond to that need without compromising his lack of values. When a beautiful news reporter betrays Nick's sexually-achieved trust, his world seems in danger of collapsing. But there's always one more coffin nail in Nick's pack.
