| This film was a revelation, a Westerner who does not lie. The whole issue of stripping off the mythology of our culture has built around the west, scraping away like a mirror finish and reveling And beneath the ugliness of humanity. I was totally convinced, both by the image of the era and the reality of the characters. A great attention to its treatment of the subject of death. The film shows what U.S. is like killing a man, a sharp contrast with the casual attitude taken by many other westerns. We see what we already know, Wild West or not, that killing is something that most people are not capable. And yet the character of William Munny shows us that despite the mundanity that embodies in his later life, the real evil still existed then as now, and every now and then, the real heroism. |
| Clint Eastwoods movie about a widowed retired gunfighter out of retirement for one last job is a film that every lover of the Western genre should see. Gene Hackman plays a sheriff in the city who directs things with an iron hand and when he hears about what happened in the Whore House, which he manages his own form of punishment for perpetrators of the crime. The women are unhappy about this issue and put a reward for anyone who administer justice to the men who committed the crime, what we seek. Schofield's son convincing William Munny (Clint Eastwood), which is reluctant at first, to help him in this task of tracing the perpetrators of the crime. Morgan Freeman joins Clint Eastwood on this path and gives a very good measure of support. Richard Harris plays an upper crust Brit. This is Clint Eastwoods Best Western Prohibit from Josey Wales. The DVD version of the film is the best version. This film should be in every collection of films, if you like the western genre or not, if you like the movies I want this. |
| Most westerns are presented with the typical good versus bad boy image, and it is true that here too, but with a twist.There is a heavy dose of reality here that you will not find in any other Western. The good guys are not as good as us to be, and the bad are not entirely bad.That is the reality, and Clint does a great job of driving this point home.Excellent work here by all parties involved, including Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, and my favorite actor, Freeman.We Morgan are all either good or bad, at the root of our being, human.Great movie. |

Sheriff 'Little Bill' tries to build a house and keep a heavy-handed order. The town whores just try to get by.Then a couple of cowboys cut up a whore. Unsatisfied with Bill's justice, the prostitutes put a bounty on the cowboys. The bounty attracts a young gun billing himself as 'The Schofield Kid', and aging killer William Munny. Munny reformed for his young wife, and has been raising crops and two children in peace. But his wife is gone. Farm life is hard. And Munny is no good at it. So he calls his old partner Ned, saddles his ornery nag, and rides off to kill one more time, blurring the lines between heroism and villainy, man and myth.
