As I did this movie, but - with the exception of His Beanness - none of the actors really stood out. And, I do not know if I'm just a kid weary of the call-that-shocking? generation, but I was waiting the whole thing to be over the top. Some scenes worth noting, however: the rape scene was terrible, and the scene where he died was bad fresh. It is not wrong to cool in the ooh-cool-dead-people, but in the wow-is-not-just-being-a-bean-HOTTIE-that-also-strip-a-big-death-scene shape. Sean Bean is really great in the way they play any kind of character. The fact homoerotic nervous (before it was fashionable to do so), twitchy terrorists, really bad scratch (several times, but it never gets old), devoted husband and lover ... that is truly diverse. I love that man. Sigh. Scuse me while I go chain smoke. And I do not even smoke! Trish
A good film on several levels. The unflattering comparisons that some critics have made between him and The Usual Suspects are completely wrong direction as the intent and effect in the two images are dissimilar. Winsor movie, it seems to me, brilliantly evokes the drabness and cruelty of the criminal mentality. It does so partly through the choice of dull, flat coastal Essex countryside with its marshes, gray motorway links, flash mansions of the nouveau riche and corny charm of places of the sea. The characters are both repellent and yet strangely fascinating. This is not a film in which it is easy to lose interest. Nobody can do psycho-thug better than Sean Bean, and Charlie Creed-Miles has created a character like Billy dangerously weak, it is almost possible to feel sorry for tasteless. The film is very well lit, although not find the sound levels a bit dodgy at times is a movie that, despite the critical comments, it is not a million miles Obtain Carter in quality.
I am ashamed to admit that I understood this movie only the second time I saw him. It's easy to confuse the characters sometimes twice, as they cross each other, change camps and generally confuse the viewer to no end. However, it was worth it for Sean Bean as the psycho Jason Locke and his wife Alex Kingston as a femme fatal. The type of game Billy, the narrator, was also very good. There are very few moments of humor, but there is little doubt that the work, lack Lisa mouth, comes to mind, as well as the fact that Jason stole the lion marble garden of his former boss. The plot becomes a bit muddled in the final with Lisa and their network of deception ever wider and wider. Moments of violence is very realistic. Jason Locke's treatment of his wife is far more shocking than anyone flying outside a glass window. As far as the direction is pretty straightforward, with some really excellent edition in the shoot out near the end, as well as in the scene where Mr Dyke (I find a gentleman's gangster Tom Wilkinson quite credible) is trying to kill Billy. In all, is hardly an innovative film, but it's very entertaining. I will give you 7 / 10.
OK First, I hated the movie, but gave him a score of 7, which is quite high - simply because the brilliant performance of Sean Bean. Lots of very graphic rape, domestic violence, battered women downed around, horrible things, gangsters throwing acid on the face of the boy. If you want to see a movie with Sean Bean, but not so disturbing and violent check-out "Fools Gold" which is based on the same type of character, but not as horrifically violent. Rather sordid. However, its based on a true story from real life and very authentic. I also really liked Alex Kingston and Tom Wilkinsons performance. Oscar was working at the level of Sean Bean and God, I am tired of Bean-o get typecast in so many sociopathic villain roles - that is sexy to die and can do all kinds of functions, not just the man to a loved Odio " as the villain baddie. It is a visceral, fierce, raw to the bone, flammable white hot smokin 'tour de force by the performance of the most magnificent Sean Bean. It is a testament to the enormous power of your act that, even in a gruesome film that I loathed, I could see the very bitter end spellbound and mesmerized. Sean Bean could recite the phone book in Swahili and that the level of Sir Laurence Olivier reading Shakespeare. Colleen in California
For those who remember the triple murder in Essex that inspired the film, this brings an added edge of realism. The establishment - the model of Tudor homes of the nouveau riche gangsters, Southend on Sea, the freezing of the marshes where Billy runs for his life, are as suggestive as real-life performances from Sean Bean, Alex Kingston and Tom Wilkinson. It is refreshing to see a film that portrays the underworld in all its vengeful pettiness - the small slights that turn into murderers fiefdoms - dozens poisoned by a group of renegade E, a young man, died of an overdose, casually dumped at sea. . . The sight of Hollywood Gangland England has been too long focused on the East End - Snatch, Long Good Friday, Lock, Stock ... when real Londoners know the East End is good for the curry houses, and gangsters led to the Home Counties years ago. Interesting to note that several comments in the reviews of this superlative refers to the film unintelligible accent. I should note that viewers in the UK (and in the Netherlands and most Scandinavian countries) regularly enjoy American films, without the help of subtitles, so how is it so hard to understand us? :) Do not complain that the cast of Goodfellas or Donnie Brasco New York had accents, so why complain that children have the Essex Essex accents?
A sadistic gangster, Jason Locke (Sean Bean) is released from prison and immediately goes back to what he knows best - hurting people. He hooks with former colleagues who specialize in the security operation at night, because this gives them control of the clubbing scene of the drug trade. All this is witnessed by a young employee Wannabe as the band's conductor. Meanwhile, Bean's character is happy to publicly humiliate his wife (Alex Kingston), and up to something big with the upper class of drug dealer John Dyke (Tom Wilkinson). When Dyke dodgy imports a batch of ecstasy, leading to several deaths (including that of a girl raped Locke recently, the relationship sours. Locke and co Dyke offset the demand for them - that appeals to them in an ambush and kills them. So far so good. But it is not. Character loyalties seem to shift all over the place. A minute Locke is happy to enter into partnership with his old colleagues - the next, which is the repository of the police ambush of their partners' drug deals. Minor characters are introduced without the introduction at all, and then to turn have crucial (albeit small) roles in the plot. Kingston character seems to vacillate between a pathetic downtrodden housewife and a classic femme fatal Noir. And the main character, the naive young driver, is simply too weak to inspire sympathy everyone. In short an OK movie (loosely based on true facts) by leaving huge plot holes and inconsistencies.
Sean Bean plays a gangster in this film that is based on real-life Range Rover murders.Charlie Creed Miles stars as Billy, the driver who gets involved with gangsters all the same. It does not sound like a good movie, but when watching television, violence and rape was so brutal that will make you look off the screen. Some people have never seen these violent men that if they see this, which in turn that off midway through. The most disturbing thing is that these events took place a few years ago.I do not spoil over the movie, but all I can say is, this is what happens behind closed doors in the county of Essex. The film is a British gangster thriller that draws on the history of what we see BiIly happened. You get drawn in, and so we have sympathy for this character. The film is bleak, but it's worth renting one, is on about two hours, but it's nice and disturbing.I rate 3 / 5.
