| Now we know what a big-budget film Ed Wood would look like. Based on a screenplay for an Academy Award nominated writer, with two Academy Award winning actors and Spirit Award-nominated filmmaker, director Lee Daniels succeeds in delivering a ridiculous mess. The story seems to take place in some Bizarro world where everyone carries too much makeup, Doogie Howser lives with a grotesque crackhead, and most of the gang members act like girlie boys. Cuba Gooding, Jr. spends most of the initiative seeks to upset or uncomfortable. Joseph Gordon Levitt, Stephen Dorff and Monique give game performances, but even the great Helen Mirren can not overcome Daniels' ham-handed direction. While Shadowboxer shows all the Ed Wood of incompetence and unintentional humor, which does not have the charm that made Wood a favorite of worship. |
| I must say that this movie is extremely rare. The Cuba Gooding Jr is not surprising. He always at the height of the roles of characters in most of his films. It was good. The producer uses colors, and slowness of the great images in all the scenes right. (Especially the love scenes). From the beginning till the end of this movie is a bit mysterious. It sticks with you after the end credits are rolling. You have to see it and pay close attention to dialogue to understand what is really happening. It is not an action movie (although there are scenes of violence), and the only thing that grabs your attention is how the film actually ends. After seeing how it ends, I have to say that the end was very predictable (thats not to say that the end was horrible, it was great). If you are in mystery movies you want to pick this one, but do not expect anything important. There should be a sequel! |
| Cuba G.Jr. acts very, very well. I think this is his last film good so far, if you saw "End Game", you'll understand why ... Helen M. is a great actress of the old school, but in this movie proves that acting has unlimited possibilities. Yes, history is interesting but a little fantastic, I loved the "taboo" scenes about the relationship between Rose and Mickey ... The film is about "strange" relations: Rose-Micky, precious Dr.Don, Vickie-Clayton. Vickie the role of everyone in the photo ... is almost zero, I think that its only obligation is to make a connection between Micky and Anthony ... Not exactly a family film, but you have to see it! |
| There is no question of the inclusion of a spoiler. Frankly I do not find a discernible story understandable, how can there be a spoiler. The only reason this movie has a "1" rating from me is because I believe that any hint of Helen Mirren, however unpleasant, is something worthwhile. Not much, however, in this case. Helen must have the money to take part in this fiasco. As others have said, this is easily one of the worst films ever produced. Is disguised under false colors for one thing. In fact, it should be marketed as pornography and are sold only in porn shops. I can not conceive that some pornography can not be considered completely offensive to some people, but this movie seems determined to offer something offensive to everyone. If you are a fan of Helen Mirren, as I do, my advice is to forget this. I reran one of its DVI Joan Tennison (Prime Suspect) movies to take the bad taste in your mouth. So why did I check the "spoiler" box? Some people might interpret all this comment from a "spoiler"! |
