Far from being historically naive, Plunkett and Macleane is a very cheeky comedy that uses some modern touches to the humor and liveliness of the story. In a hilarious scene in modern music is used to convert a ball into a kind of party. This image conveys probably more the spirit of England at that time that any of the tightly corseter period dramas that we see in our small screens. In those days London will undoubtedly have been (not much different than today) a hive of dirt, guts, violence and sex. The best thing to do is sit and enjoy the energy, comedy and the damn fine performances in this great little britflick. It is not exactly accurate, but then this is not what was intended. Give it a go! |
When I sat in the cinema to see this I was expecting to see a kind of ironic style action movie, which had been implicated by the trailers. But very quickly it became apparent that this movie was trying to be more. Normally, I do not approve of films that seek to entertain in many ways as possible. For example, this film tries to mix the action with comedy, romance, lightheartedness and seriousness rough at the same time. Most often this type of approach does not work in films (just look at Batman Forever), but I was pleasantly surprised to see that in this case, which threw off. The end result is a very entertaining movie that should appeal to more mature filmgoers. (However, the weak stomach should be warned of one or two scenes.) Robert Carlyle and Jonny Lee Miller pulled a brilliant double act and Ken Stott makes an excellent villain. This mixed with gorgeous costumes and some decent action scenes, makes it a very pleasant view. However, the big let-down here for me is to take "El Caballero Highwayman" there is a real opportunity for a good dialogue, but the script was definitely lacking punchiness and there were few belly laughs. Well, so that the lines were not terrible, but I do highlight a problem with recent British films, ignoring some notable exceptions scripts are written today are still relatively poor when compared with some the efforts of Hollywood. |
.. is the Princess Bride meets ... Trainspotting well. But wait, in fact, it's a good combination! This was definitely one of the best movies I've seen in a long time ... that has the kind of witty dialogue partner with The Princess Bride or Cemetery Man, along with the nasty scenes of violence from a horror movie ... the heroic feeling along with the Princess Bride (this is strange) the lack of any really good guys who had Trainspotting. I'm not saying that it was as good as Princess Bride, but it was in the sand, and it shook. Some of the dialogue beyond pleasant to brilliant, the plot is interesting, the characters - albeit slightly anacronistic - anacronistic are not due to its intrinsic nature (there are flamboyantly gay people in the 18th century, against a reviewer's previous comments) but only a little of the language it uses. The anachronisms fun fact, however, and NO Cheesy and easily. If you've ever read any R. Simon Green, or Gleen Garrett Cook of the series, you know exactly what this movie. Check it out. It's great. |
This film is certainly the best I've seen, and what really shows the British talent can do. These effects are very good in view of the film lies in the middle of the 18th century, and all the grittiness and disgusting filth of England at the moment is captured very well. The nature of development and enrich, from the Macleane whoring antics to their development and exhibitionary Highwayman 'El Caballero Highwayman' contrast well with Robert Carlyle, that cynicism and honor to prove that love can a thief and a criminal because I quote quote: "He is now more honor in his little finger, that any of you fat bastards! " Does not relate to you of course! However, it has arguably the most stirring and emotionally charged scene ever seen in a movie, but you just have to see it to find out, suffice to say that this is the rope round his neck. |
Download Plunkett & Macleane Movie HereWill Plunkett and Captain James Macleane, two men from different ends of the social spectrum in 18th-century England, enter a gentlemen's agreement: They decide to rid the aristocrats of their belongings. With Plunkett's criminal know-how and Macleane's social connections, they team up to be soon known as 'The Gentlemen Highwaymen'.
