I saw this movie without any expectations, and actually paid! First, the actors did a brilliant job. Especially Ryan Gosling, who managed to make me mourn just looking at him for being so blue and tragic figure and that was so believable in his role. All and all, the film managed to pass the concepts of death and the flow of time in a very interesting and fresh way, he made every effort to connect, and also universal and timeless, that almost felt watching a well-edited dream a genius of the mind. I recommend this film to all those who really like an intelligent, mystical plot and want to open their minds to different aspects of reality that this movie offers to think. |
After a car accident on a bridge, the psychiatrist Sam Foster (Ewan McGregor) assumes the case of the survivor Henry Letham (Ryan Gosling) who allegedly burned and cars and promises to commit suicide three days later. Sam decides to investigate more deeply what happened with Henry, and feels it is becoming detached from reality with its conclusions on the case. He asks his girlfriend Lila Culpepper (Naomi Watts) to help himself to stay lucid, while trying to solve the intriguing situation of Henry. I'm a huge fan of director Marc Foster, with its spectacular "All Together" and "Monster of the Ball" and the wonderful "Finding Neverland." However, the "stay" is absolutely different from the earlier films, being a kind of "sixth sense" or "Jacob's Ladder" with a style of David Lynch. The screenplay is very intriguing and difficult situations with strangers, and there's a catch in the final with Sam Foster's vision when the truth is finally revealed. The beautiful photograph gives the impression of a dream, or nightmare, for the viewer. This movie is convincing and appealing that it deserves to be seen more than once. My vote is eight. Title (Brazil): "A Passagem" ( "El Paso") |
What a visually stunning film! This is art people! I loved it! The only problem with this movie is the soundtrack is not available. The address is fresh and elegant ..... we're going to buy this DVD which BTW renting a lame .... is very little extra material and offers wide screen up on one side and full in the other ... that uses the full screen? I hope Fox wises and re-releases the film in a format better. Apparently, the movie flopped in wide release ..... It did so Donny Darko .... But DD is still a great movie, too. Perhaps we should not compare the two films, but about his twisted mind and revealed the unimaginable toward the end. Anyway you look good in this movie should be rewarding the senses at any level. |
It is a masterpiece by Monet on the wall of a museum in New York. Never fails to captivate. So strange and beautiful like art imitating life. You'll love the stills and reels of 8mm film used as the memory of our protagonist Henry. The director has a beautiful way of floating through the human mind. There are so many questions. What is reality? What is fantasy? Why should we ja VU? Why are we here? Why we all need to finally go? He sums it with the fact that we are all connected through a common truth, existence. And a common fear, "What is really there?" "Stay" makes you want to live life to the fullest, bearing in mind all the time, because in life that all matters. |
First, let me say to all those viewers who are assuming that those who do not like simply do not "get". I "got" well, and I still think for the most part this is a terrible movie. I'm a fairly intelligent woman, and I admit to having accused others of "not doing that" when no other thinking, artistic types of movies. After this movie, I think that these people can be very confident that they will not ever hear those words from me again. This film was not difficult to "get" I, and I looked with (also, in case you are wondering, are not unintelligent people) walked away with more than a "Who cares' attitude then "what happened there" one. Therefore, if there are any of you out there thinking, "perhaps simply did not do it ..." probably DID and maybe just do not realize that was not much to get. Do not worry, you're not stupid, just less pretentious than some other ..... |
Finally, a philosophical and scientific movie! I love the reference to Freud: His father had been watching day and night beside the sick bed of her son. After the boy died, retired to rest in an adjacent room, but left the door ajar so that he could watch from his room in the next, when the child's body lay surrounded by tall candles. An old man, who was installed as an observer, sat beside the body, murmuring prayers. After sleeping a few hours the father dreamed that the child was in his bed, clasping his arm and crying reproachfully: "Father, do not you see I'm burning?" The father woke up and noticed a bright light coming from the adjacent room. Rush in , Found that the man had fallen asleep, and leaves the body and one arm were loved by a candle burned down. And another thing is interesting in the end, a reference to the gateways to another dimension. When you are standing on the Brooklyn Bridge and both lines are surrounded by strangers. He indicated that Henry is about to leave this world and travel to an alternate dimension. Awesome movie. |
A lot of people are going to hate this movie, but if you just pay attention and give a chance you'll find that it is brilliant. The movie is not at all what I expected, is much more. expects the same kind of thriller movie, we see all the time, I thought he still expects a good, but that is all that is expected of him. Boy, am right, this movie was beautiful and took seriously a great mind to write it. I'm still a little foggy on one thing, it was all a dream or a dream that was done so that it could forgive himself? Either way the movie was impressive, I gave it 10 stars but is a bit slow in some places. The actors were great (Ewan McGregor, Ryan Gosling, Naomi Watts and, of course, Bob Hoskins) and the writer and director were bright. I've been a great admirer of Marc Forster's work for quite some time, Finding Neverland is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and for him the follow-up to a movie with this amazing is simply wonderful. |
