| This is a great, great film based on the stunning and convincing performance of Edward Norton. There are so many people who think like him and dove into this role Headfirst, without any apology. This film, along with irreversible, is one of the most violent scenes to film, and it is very difficult to shake (even though it happens off screen). The performance of Norton is equal to anything DeNiro did with Scorsese. |
| When I saw for the first time, we thought it was incredible, however, after seeing again last night, I realized that I was wrong. The performance of Edward Norton was fantastic, but I think the reason why the film came across as powerful as the first time was because the subject is so powerful and familiar. In terms of history, some things are hard to believe, for example, the speed with the girlfriend of Norton ed becomes him, Ed Norton or how drastically the nature of the changes twice! I realize movies do not have to be realistic, but this movie is trying to be realistic with its theme and the showing of the hard reality, however, the story is too unbelievable. Definitely a good movie, and very important, but I would rank lower than in the top 250. |
| Oh my God ... There is no better movie out there. This film has everything that a great movie must have. I had not seen Ed Norton in many other films, does not consider him an actor Oscar worthy until I saw this movie. Edward Norton was one of the most brilliant performances in the history cinemtaic; period. All the other actors were good but Ed Norton steals the show, he deserved an Oscar for the character he brought to life in this movie.There is so many things we could say about this movie, but I do not want to bore people. Oh and after I saw this movie Primal Fear, it deserves another Oscar performance. |
| It is rare that a turn for a chance to see a movie for free. It is even more rare that I regret having done so. American History X was so remarkably bad, but I am considering an attempt to bring a claim for my loss of time. :-) The Plot: Give the audience some credit! American History X was painfully awkward. The word, "Duh," came to mind (and often the mouth) every few seconds. Challenge us ... we do something ... leave some loose ends. Ed Furlong's 18-hour plan of redemption? Please! Cinematography: I do not know who is at fault, my guess is Tony Kaye. How can smell something of pretension and look like a show on MTV? Cut bread, cut, bread, slow-mo, black and white. The camera work is a symbol of the film. Kaye never makes the characters visually and maybe that's part of why it is so ineffective AHX. Ed Norton did what he could with a weak script and a director poor. Unfortunately, the most impressive thing about the movie is the way Norton changed his body for the role. Tony Kaye (understandly) tried to remove his name from this "play" and said that Norton was responsible for editing. If that is true, let's hope Ed Norton sticks to acting and Tony Kaye goes back to music videos. |

In the meanwhile, his younger brother, Danny Vineyard (Edward Furlong) goes in the same way and makes the same mistakes (racism and hatred) his eldest brother did (this is the result of the Neo Nazi environment he grows up into, and the influence Derek left behind). While Derek is in jail he realize that he choose the wrong path. after coming back from jail, Derek try to convince his brother not to go in his own way.
